Lincoln High School - Weapon on Campus

Dear Lincoln High School Families,

Working in partnership to provide open communication and ensure the safety of all students and staff, I want to inform you of an event that occurred today. The Port Angeles Police Department is investigating a report of a student who brought an airsoft replica gun to Lincoln High School. Around 11am on Tuesday, November 2nd, a teacher received a report of a potential weapon on campus. The teacher quickly notified the building administration, who notified PAPD immediately.

The student was removed from the classroom, and the weapon was confiscated. PAPD was quick to respond and arrived at campus minutes after the report. Students and staff, in collaboration with PAPD, handled the situation appropriately and swiftly. Counselors and support staff are onsite and available to any students who would like to process and discuss this situation.

Providing a safe and secure learning environment is the top priority for our school system, and we take these incidents very seriously. We want you to have the facts to discuss with your child and emphasize the seriousness of this issue. As parents and guardians, you can help. Please take this opportunity to speak to your child about the importance of school safety. While peer pressure is tremendous at this age, we want to encourage students to feel comfortable reporting any information they may have that compromises their safety and the safety of others. Working together, we can maintain an environment where students are free to focus on learning.

Please feel free to call me at 360-565-3703 or email me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.

In Partnership,
