Community Message Regarding Racism

Port Angeles, WA – Port Angeles School District (PASD) would like to respond to the tragic events in our country by calling for courageous conversations, kindness, and compassion. PASD shares the pain felt in the United States after the tragic death of George Floyd. We stand with the Black community and all those who recognize our shared humanity and fundamental belief in equity. We are committed to fostering equity, inclusion, and diversity in all aspects of our district and in the work we do. We want to state this more clearly than ever – Port Angeles School District is vehemently opposed to racism and any kind of oppression of human beings based on race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference or identity, age, religion, or disability.

PASD continues to stand for equity and is committed to have our staff and administrators equipped with the skills to have these critical conversations with students and one another. We will continue to come together and build a community of safety and belonging, and to teach our students that they are important and valued.  We believe in every student and in ensuring all students are healthy, supported, engaged, and safe.

PASD’s Family Navigator and school Counselors are available to help families through this difficult time. Please call the main district office at 360.457.8575 if you would like to be connected with one of our support staff.
