October 2017 issue of School Administrator features article by Marc JacksonThe October 2017 issue of School Administrator, a periodical produced for The School Superintendents Association, features an article by Marc Jackson, Port Angeles School District Superintendent.

The article is titled Where Will Our Students Stand Without Impact Aid?  It calls attention to the need for Impact Aid, a government program that serves counties and communities that, through the presence of federally impacted land such as military bases and Indian reservations, are unable to collect or generate property taxes.  This has an impact on public schools in those areas.

The budget for Impact Aid is currently in danger of being cut, which could have an impact on PASD schools.

Jackson spotlights the importance of Klallam language programs offered in Port Angeles school across K-12 levels.  Klallam is the language of the Klallam Tribes, who live at Lower Elwha, Jamestown and Port Gamble in Washington state and Becher Bay on Vancouver Island in British Columbia.
