The referral window for the identification process for Port Angeles School District's Highly Capable program is now open! Annually, we put out extra effort to identify gifted learners, known as Highly Capable students. The Highly Capable program is for students who may have talents and needs beyond the scope of the general classroom environment. Parents and educators recognize that all children and students have unique skills and strive to meet their needs through various curriculum and learning activities within the general classroom.

Your student's well-being is important to us. To continue to improve as a school district, we are sending out a student survey to discover students' perceptions and attitudes toward their well-being, engagement, and motivation. The Educational Effectiveness Survey (EES) for students enables our district and buildings to develop intervention plans and support students in greatest need of help. The survey results provide our district and buildings with interactive dashboards that make team collaboration and action planning efficient and easy.

Port Angeles School District will again provide information about the disease Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) to all students in grades 5 through 12. AIDS is a life-threatening disease that destroys the body’s capability to fight infections. Due to the seriousness of this disease, which is a major public health issue, the Board, administration, and staff of Port Angeles School District believe that students should be provided with scientifically accurate information about the spread and prevention of the disease. We use the FLASH – Family Life and Sexual Health Curriculum.
