Port Angeles, Wash. – Clallam County Auditor’s staff shared results to date for the February 14, 2017 Replacement Educational Programs and Operation Levy special election measures shortly after 8:00 p.m. tonight at the County Courthouse.

Ballots counted to date for the February 14, 2017 special election show the Port Angeles School District four-year replacement educational programs and operation levy has passed successfully with unofficial results showing 5,413 yes votes and 2,415 no votes for a 69.15% passage rate.

“I’m very proud of the election’s results,” Superintendent Marc Jackson said.  “A victory tonight reflects a commitment from the community to the mission of the Port Angeles School District.”

“Thank you to everyone who worked on the election, including our staff, students, parents, principals and community members,” he added.

“In particular, I want to extend my thanks and great appreciation to the Port Angeles Citizens for Education,” Dr. Jackson said, “whose members showed great support of our students, schools and community.  Co-Chairs Steve Methner and Trisha Parker and their team provided tremendous leadership in this effort. I appreciate everyone who stepped forward to help with communications, sign waving, mailings… From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

Approval of a levy requires a simple majority of 50% + 1 vote.

Tuesday, February 24, 2017 is the certification date for the special election.
