Roosevelt Elementary has been selected as a School of Distinction for the second year in a row.  This recognition, bestowed by the Center for Educational Effectiveness (CEE), celebrates school staff, students and leaders who improve performance for all students over a sustained period of time in English language arts (ELA) and mathematics.  Roosevelt is in the top 5% of schools across the state who have demonstrated sustained improvements over a 5-year span. This is the second year in a row that Roosevelt Elementary has received this honor.

“This is due to the hard work of our staff.  We are all in and doing whatever it takes for the sake of the children,” said Principal Michelle Olsen.

“Every day at our school is a joyful celebration of learning and community.  This recognition is an exciting honor to every member of the Roosevelt team,” added Assistant Principal Jennifer Van De Wege.

Greg Lynch, Superintendent of Olympic Educational Service District (OESD) 114, presented a certificate with his congratulations to Principal Michelle Olsen at the December 13 School Board meeting.

“This is great news once again for Port Angeles School District and Roosevelt Elementary School,” said Lynch.  “Roosevelt continues to receive lots of positive recognition.”
