PAHS Rider News Episode Features Building Move and Pool ExpansionRider News, an online school news broadcast, is produced by Port Angeles High School students every Wednesday during the school year.  All episodes are posted on the Port Angeles High School YouTube channel at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvoHTeaWCUFudGd-L18mbpQ.

The weekly show is produced entirely by PAHS students, from the branding and intro sequence to the interviews, studio filming and editing/uploading on deadline.  Students must work together to produce the news segments and coordinate with the script writer and studio crew to assemble the final show.

The latest episode of Rider News is now available for viewing online.  This episode is hosted by Kira Boyd and Jayson Cofer-Murillo.  It includes feature segments on "Walk for Water (WE Club)", "Building Move and Pool Expansion", "S.E.L. w/ Paul Kelly" and "Challenge of the Month".  The run time is 14 minutes 38 seconds.  Here is a link to the video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7knociG7DY.

Rider Interview

“The building move segment was produced by Jason Gladfelter, Jack Council and Tyler Diltz,” said Patric McInnis, video production instructor.  “The students worked directly with Steve Burke, William Shore Pool director, to coordinate the interviews and filming for the segment.”

“The student team completed editing final version within a few days, airing our show less than a week after the event,” continued McInnis.  That’s a pretty quick turnaround.”

Those three students, as well as several other Rider News and other Career and Technical Education (CTE) students from the Trades and Industries Department, will receive special recognition at the CTE Trades & Industries Student Awards Presentation on May 29 at 7 p.m. in the PAHS Library, hosted by CTE Director Cindy Crumb and open to the public.

Here are some local and school events covered this year on Rider News:  WE Day at Tacoma Dome (Field Trip State Conference), Scrubs Day at Peninsula College (Health Careers Field Trip),  Homecoming Spirit Week, Winter Spirit Week,  MLK Assembly, Benefit Talent Show, Port Angeles Sailing Regatta, Winter Ball, Singing Valentines featuring the PAHS Choir, "Little Shop of Horrors" Fall Musical, "Peter and the Starcatcher" Spring Play, New School-based Health Center, Book Club Winter Reading Competition, Winter Snowstorm & Open Ski/Snowboard at Hurricane Ridge, PAHS Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition Team, ROTC Competitions, and various sports, clubs and classes on PAHS campus.
