First Day of School for 2018-19
Tuesday, September 4 is the first day of school for grades 1 – 12 at all Port Angeles School District schools.

There will be Tuesday early release for elementary schools and Wednesday late start for middle school and high school beginning the first week of school. Parents are encouraged if they haven’t already registered their child for Kindergarten, to please do so at once. The first day of school for kindergarteners is Friday, September 7.

Dry Creek Elementary will have a Kindergarten Orientation event on Tuesday, August 21 at 5 p.m.

School Offices Now Open
All school offices are now open for registration between the hours of 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Class lists will be posted on Wednesday, August 22 at all PASD elementary schools.

Port Angeles High School (PAHS)
For incoming ninth graders, please mark your calendar to attend Freshmen Welcome Day on Friday, August 31. Beginning with a welcome assembly in the PAHS auditorium at 9 a.m., this orientation event includes a tour of the campus, introduction to high school administrators, lunch and other activities including games.

Rider Days (Registration) are on the following days from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at PAHS:
Tuesday, August 21 - Seniors and Juniors
Wednesday, August 22 – Sophomores
Thursday, August 23 – Freshmen

New students to the District may register at the high school as soon as possible. The office is now open Monday through Friday, and they do not need to wait until the registration day.

Stevens Middle School
Stevens Middle School registration takes place on Tuesday, August 21 as follows:

Grade 7 – Students with a last name beginning with A – L from 9 – 10:30 a.m., M – Z from 10:30 a.m. – 12 noon.

Grade 8 – Students with a last name beginning with A – L from 12:30 – 2 p.m., M – Z from 2 – 3 p.m.

During registration, students can pick up class schedules and other school information, have their school picture taken, sign computer use agreement forms, and make purchases including lunch tickets, insurance, school sweatshirts and a year book. All students will have their picture taken at no cost for the year book. Make-up picture day is September 7, and Re-take picture day is October 15.

Fall sports packets must be turned in to the athletic secretary by September 4. The first day of practice for all fall sports is September 5.

Dry Creek Elementary - Thursday, September 20, 5 – 7 p.m.

Franklin Elementary - Tuesday, September 25, grades K – 3 at 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., grades 4 – 6 at 6 – 7 p.m.

Hamilton Elementary – Tuesday, September 18, from 6 – 7 p.m. for grades 1 – 6

Jefferson Elementary – Thursday, October 11 @ 6:30 p.m.

Roosevelt Elementary – Thursday, September 27 from 5 – 7 p.m.

Stevens Middle School – Thursday, September 27 from 6 – 7:30 p.m.

PAHS Open House – Wednesday, September 19 @ 7 – 8:30 p.m. (6:15 p.m. for Freshman Information). Parents visit teachers in the classrooms, information to be handed out.

Food Services
PASD will continue to provide breakfast service to all students at no charge in all elementary schools. School meal prices remain the same as the past year. For more information on school meal prices, see Food Services under Departments on the District website.

Parents/guardians should fill out a Free/Reduced Meal application for the 2018-19 school year if they feel they may qualify. Applications are available at all school buildings and on the District website.

Strings Program
There are several staffing changes in our district strings program. Teresa Bjornes will teach orchestra in grades 4 through 6 at Roosevelt, grade 4 at Franklin, and grade 6 at Jefferson. Amber Mattfield will teach orchestra in grades 4 through 6 at Dry Creek and Hamilton, and grades 4 and 5 at Jefferson. Traci Tyson takes on a new role in our district this year. She becomes the orchestra director at Stevens Middle School and will teach grades 5 and 6 strings at Franklin. James Ray continues as PAHS Orchestra Teacher.

This modern dental office on wheels will be based at Jefferson Elementary during the week of September 10 - 14 to provide dental care to local children who have limited access to care. PASD Volunteers
Port Angeles School District greatly values and appreciates the time, talents and efforts of our volunteers. All school secretaries have volunteer packets in their offices for anyone wishing to volunteer in the classrooms or school buildings. Those wishing to volunteer must provide a valid driver’s license for a background check.
