Ruckus Wireless Setup and Use

Ruckus Wireless

Wireless access is now available throughout the district.  If you cannot access wireless from anywhere you need to please let us know by creating a helpdesk ticket describing your needs.  Create a helpdesk ticket by sending an email to hdesk@portangelesschools.org

There are now two wireless networks available:  “Guest” and “PASD”

The “Guest” network is for students or non-district employees using personal devices.  The “Guest” network only provides access to the internet only and content is strictly filtered.

The "PASD" network is for staff members using personal or district equipment.  The “PASD” network allows access to local network resources (printers, file servers, peer connections,…) and the internet with filtering set based on role with the district (Administration, Faculty, Student,…).

Guest Network

This network is for Students and Guest users on non-district equipment such as a laptop or smart device.

Accessing the “Guest” network

Choose the “Guest” network from you list of available network connections then read and agree to the “Terms of Use”

PASD Network

Accessing the "PASD" network

From a Windows Computer

In the lower right hand corner of your screen (by the clock) click the small network
icon.
It will often look like a rising stack of towers ad or a series of waves adds.

Select the "PASD Setup" network from the list. Once selected a browser window will launch (if the browser does not launch automatically do it open the browser manually) asking you for your district credentials .
This is your user name and password assigned by the district (first initial, last name and whatever password you use to login to your faculty computer or check your portangelesschools.org email).  Once authenticated you will be prompted to run the Prov.exe setup (this should attempt to auto-run but if not follow the prompts until it installs). If Prov.exe is able to run you will automatically be transferred to the "PASD" wireless network.

If the installer is unable to run, you will have to manually connect to the "PASD" network. In the image to the right you can see a link directly below the light blue bar to manually connect. Click the link and proceed to the next screen.

Manually Setting Up PASD Network: If Prov.exe did not run and connect you automatically you will need to copy the network key (see image right) and use that to connect. After copying the network key, click your wireless connection icon in the tray, and select the PASD network. This will prompt you for a key. Paste the key you copied into this box and click ok.
