Washington Aerospace Scholars Applications Now AcceptedGreetings!

We are excited to announce that student and teacher applications are now being accepted for our brand new Sophomore Washington Aerospace Scholars (SWAS) program.

SWAS is:
  • free!
  • a member of NASA’s National High School Aerospace Scholars network
  • partnered with the University of Washington
  • providing current sophomore students the opportunity to complete the first two lessons of the junior level WAS program to qualify for a robotics-focused multi-day experience in late July/mid Aug!
To participate, students must be:
  • Washington state residents
  • Current high school sophomores
During Phase One, which occurs during the month of March, students will complete two web-based lessons that examine both the history of space exploration and the structure of the solar system. In May, students who successfully complete the online course will be invited to participate in a free STEM-focused experience in late July/early August. During this multi-day experience, students will design a robotic mission to Mars under the guidance of professional scientists and engineers.

Certified educators are also invited to participate in both phases of WAS, serving as online evaluators in March and academic facilitators during the summer experience. Selected teachers will receive stipends for both phases, room and board, and are eligible for free clock hours.

You can visit www.museumofflight.org/was to see our SWAS promotional information. Thank you for assisting us in sharing this opportunity with your school.
