Port Angeles, Wash.
The Port Angeles Education Foundation (PAEF) honored fifteen Port Angeles High School (PAHS) seniors - Benjamin Basden, Lael Butler, Kacey Casad, Olivia Due, Claire Fritschler, Leah Haworth, Kristin Kirkman, Noah McGoff, Laura Nutter, Grayson Peet, Nikaila Price, Wesleyanne Rayment, Grace Sanwald, Emily Traughber and Maya Wharton - at its annual Academic Achievement Awards ceremony and reception held Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Port Angeles High School.
The award recognizes seniors who have achieved a 3.5 or better weighted grade point average (GPA) every semester of their first three years at Port Angeles High School while taking at least nine Honors, Advanced Placement or University of Washington in the High School courses.
PAHS Principal Jeff Clark and PAEF Academic Achievement Awards Chair Annette Wendel welcomed students, family members, staff and other guests to the presentation. PAEF President-Elect Bill Kindler awarded individual certificates to students.
"These students are the best of the best,” said PAHS science instructor John Gallagher. “They took the most difficult classes at Port Angeles High School and still maintained top GPAs. They excelled not in just one subject, but all subject areas. Their selection of Honors, Advanced Placement, and University of Washington courses will prepare them for the rigors of a college education.”
“They leave PAHS with the skills and knowledge necessary to allow them to excel in any university across the nation," added Gallagher.
